Holiday Walk

Celebrate Santa's arrival in Downtown Kirkwood!

There will be fun for the entire family at Downtown Kirkwood’s Holiday Walk in downtown Kirkwood Saturday, November 17. Beginning at 9:30 a.m., activities for children, holiday shopping, free entertainment and refreshments will make this day a festive way to begin your celebration of the holiday season.

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will delight children with their arrival by Amtrak train. After his grand entrance, Santa will pose for photos outside the train station. Be sure to bring your camera to snap a photo for your Christmas cards! Adults will enjoy shopping for holiday gifts offered by Downtown Kirkwood’s unique specialty stores—many of which will feature free refreshments and special offers.

The Kirkwood Train Station, 110 E. Argonne, is the headquarters for children’s activities. Santa will greet his admirers and letters to Santa will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Mrs. Claus will captivate young listeners with her holiday stories beginning at 10 a.m.  The Lucille Rapp Tumblers and Dancers and The Statesmen Singers will also perform during the event. Also from the train station, catch the Holiday Trolley and take a free ride around historic Downtown Kirkwood from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  The Downtown Kirkwood CONNECTOR, downtown Kirkwood’s free e-Cab service, will be available from 1-9 p.m. to deliver shoppers with packages to their vehicles and to help visitors circulate the Downtown Kirkwood district.

During the Downtown Kirkwood Holiday Walk, Youth in Action (YIA) a nonprofit community service organization, will be accepting household cleaning items for hurricane victims and collecting cash donations and merchandise for Nurses for Newborns at the train station. While they last, delicious cookies from McArthur’s Bakery and hot chocolate will be available.

At Kirkwood Farmers’ Market, the Gingerbread Shoppe and Christmas Tree Lot will sample their special holiday candies, baked goods and more from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and offer a preview of their natural decorations and Christmas trees.

The Holiday Walk is coordinated by Downtown Kirkwood Special Business District with support from Amtrak Missouri River Runner and McArthur’s Bakery. The downtown Kirkwood organization serves business and property owners in downtown Kirkwood through marketing, public area enhancements and administration of Kirkwood Farmers’ Market.
