The annual Downtown Kirkwood Festival of Food & Flowers is Saturday, May 22. Event activities include free flowers, gardening advice, an art show, live music, and a Downtown Dollars promotion at Kirkwood Farmers' Market. Downtown Dollars*, a new Downtown Kirkwood Gift Certificate promotion will be offered at Kirkwood Farmers' Market beginning at 8:00 a.m. on May 22. Customers making a combined purchase of $25.00 or more at the Kirkwood Farmers' Market the day of the event will receive a $5.00 Downtown Kirkwood gift certificate to spend in Downtown Kirkwood shops and restaurants. The offer is limited to the first 200 shoppers completing their Downtown Dollars card at Kirkwood Farmers' Market. Downtown Dollars cards will be available at Kirkwood Farmers' Market. During the festival, there will be a variety of food and flowers throughout the area. Numerous businesses participating in historic Downtown Kirkwood's Annual Festival of Food & Flowers will give six-packs of annual flowers (while supplies last) to customers spending five-dollars or more. In addition to the annual flower gift-with-purchase, participating businesses will also serve refreshments, offer discounts on selected merchandise or offer other in-store specials. Kirkwood Farmers' Market will feature hundreds of flowering spring plants, locally grown produce and delicious treats. Visitors can also enjoy delicious fare from the collection of unique restaurants and specialty food merchants located throughout downtown Kirkwood. A Gardening Center will be located in front of Kirkwood City Hall. Local gardening experts will be on hand to visit and answer your gardening questions. Representatives from Kirkwood in BLOOM, the Kirkwood Urban Forestry Commission, Kirkwood Living Green and the Missouri Department of Conservation, among others, will be in attendance. Other activities include the Kirkwood Garden Club's plant sale and the sale of Mexican Petunias and Scarlett Milkweed to benefit Downtown Kirkwood enhancement efforts. During the festival, numerous artists will show and sell their work at Artists in Bloom on the public plaza at Kirkwood Station Plaza. Don't miss live music from the Maple Jam Band at 10:30 a.m. and House of Bishops at 2 p.m. from the performance platform at Station Plaza and a performance by the Lucille Rapp Dancers at 1:00 p.m. The Festival of Food & Flowers is coordinated by Downtown Kirkwood Special Business District. The Downtown Kirkwood organization serves businesses and property owners in Downtown Kirkwood through marketing, public area enhancements and administration of Kirkwood Farmers' Market.
