The Tamale Man
How long have you been in business? We've been in business for seven years and we have been at Kirkwood since 2016.
Tell us a little bit about your background. We are the grandchildren and great grandchildren of Mexican immigrants who have a strong love for our food. We wanted to share a holiday favorite (tamales) with the public. In it shines our grandmothers and fathers talent for using cooking as a way to show their love.
What do you sell? We sell hot and ready to eat handmade tamales to enjoy at the market as well as frozen tamales to stock your freezer with for home. We also have made from scratch salsas to go with the tamales.
What makes your business unique? Our business is 100% family owned and run and each person you meet at the market not only cares deeply about this family business, but has a direct part in getting the tamales from the kitchen to you.
What sets you apart from your competition? We use tried and true familial recipes made from scratch and put the love of our ancestors as well as our love for family and tradition into each tamale. We cook everything from scratch and although it can be a laborious process, it is all worth it to see the smiles on our customers faces as we watch them either trying a tamale for the first time or being taken back to their childhood tamale experiences.
Is there anything you'd like to add? Tamales are so versatile. You can eat them for breakfast with and egg on top, for lunch with chili, or for dinner with rice, beans and a margarita!
