How many years have you been in business? 16 total/9 since I bought it
How long have you been a vendor at Kirkwood Farmers’ Market? I believe 2001, but I took over in 2010.
Tell us a little bit about your background: I grew up on my grandpa’s dairy farm. Then at 15, I started working for Farrar Out Farm until purchasing it on February 14, 2010.
How did you get into the business? I worked for Farrar Out Farm for five and a half years. The previous owners were moving and I decided I would buy the business.
What do you sell? We raise grass fed beef, pastured pork, free range chicken eggs, grass fed lamb, pasture raised chicken and pasture raised turkeys for thanksgiving.
Where is it grown/ produced? And, what growing practices do you use? We raise everything on our farm or land we rent. We do NOT use any chemicals, growth hormones or antibiotics in any of our animals. We rotate our animals on to different pastures everyday.
What makes your business unique? I think what makes our business unique is the fact that at the age of 20 I was able to get a loan to purchase the business and successfully operate and make it grow into something awesome. The fact that we can tend and nurture all our animals unlike other larger farming operations, which depend on antibiotics and such to keep there animals healthy. We strive to get the very best for our customers.
