The Downtown Kirkwood Enhancement Committee is constantly working to help beautify downtown Kirkwood.  Some of their programs include:

Annual Spring & Fall Planting Days

Twice a year, volunteers from Downtown Kirkwood beautify the business district with seasonal plantings. These plantings are funded and maintained by Downtown Kirkwood Special Business District.

Sale of Mexican Petunias

During the Festival of Food & Flowers, volunteers sell beautiful, drought-tolerant Mexican Petunias to benefit our enhancement efforts. (Read more about Mexican Petunias.)

The Downtown Kirkwood office also coordinates:

  • The planting of several terra cotta planters that line Kirkwood Road
  • Flower bed plantings on Jefferson Ave. and Argonne Dr.
  • The planting of pocket parks throughout Downtown Kirkwood
  • The purchase of pedestrian-friendly streetlights, matching benches and decorative trashcans
  • And, the placement of public art in conjunction with other area groups

Many of the planting projects in Downtown Kirkwood are coordinated with the help of volunteer horticulturist and Kirkwood resident, Bill Ruppert of Kirkwood in BLOOM.
