Festival of Food & Flowers

Saturday, May 22 beginning at 10 a.m.

The annual Downtown Kirkwood Festival of Food & Flowers is Saturday, May 22. Event activities include free flowers, gardening advice, an art show, live music, and cooking demonstrations at Kirkwood Farmers' Market.

During the festival, there will be a variety of food and flowers throughout the area. Numerous businesses participating in historic Downtown Kirkwood's Annual Festival of Food & Flowers will give 6-packs of annual flowers (while supplies last) to customers spending five-dollars or more. In addition to the annual flower gift-with-purchase, participating businesses will also serve refreshments, offer discounts on selected merchandise or offer other in-store specials.  Kirkwood Farmers' Market will feature hundreds of flowering spring plants, locally grown produce and delicious treats.  The farmers' market restaurants, Carolyn's and Café Manila will offer delicious breakfast and lunch choices. Visitors can also enjoy delicious fare from the collection of unique restaurants and specialty food merchants located throughout downtown Kirkwood.

A Gardening Center will be located at the Kirkwood Train Station.  Local gardening experts will be on hand to visit and answer your gardening questions.  The Kirkwood Garden Club and the Downtown Kirkwood Enhancement Committee will be selling plants to benefit their public area gardening programs. The Kirkwood Area Arts Council will be present a silent auction of birdhouses painted by local artists.

During the festival, numerous artists will show and sell their work at Artists in Bloom on the public plaza at Kirkwood Station Plaza.  You can preview the artists' work on the Meet the Artists webpage on the Downtown Kirkwood website.  Don't miss live music from the Maple Jam Band and House of Bishops from the performance platform at Station Plaza and a performance by the Lucille Rapp Dancers at 1:00 p.m. Representatives from The Magic House will be on the plaza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help children of all ages make "fun glasses". At the Kirkwood Train Station, visitors can enter to win round-trip train tickets on Amtrak's Missouri River Runner.

The Festival of Food & Flowers is coordinated by Downtown Kirkwood Special Business District with support from Lass and Laddie Children's Boutique and Amtrak's Missouri River Runner. The Downtown Kirkwood organization serves businesses and property owners in Downtown Kirkwood through marketing, public area enhancements and administration of Kirkwood Farmers' Market.
